Barn Roof Series While trying to get into a comfortable psychological space for working in my new studio in Eureka, I embarked on a flurry of random drawings and paintings that produced a few small series of coherent works. The Barn Roof series is one of them. Having grown up surrounded by agricultural farms I have an affinity for their aged architectural structures. While traveling along highway 5 in California’s northern Central Valley, I became more and more fascinated with wanting to see these forms in paint. The resulting series is of five paintings each based on one of the many roofing configurations used on various types of agricultural architecture. Hipped Gable, 2006 |
